My wife and I bought a piece of raw land and decided to build our own house as owner-builders.
In this series I’m documenting the process of designing and building the home while figuring out how houses are actually put together. From site planning and permitting to structure, utilities, and construction decisions — I’ll be sharing everything I learn along the way.
The house will be about 1,200 square feet with a small loft, and we’re trying to design it to be efficient, practical, and realistically buildable.
Right now we’re in the early planning and design phase, and there’s already way more to figure out than I expected.
Tools I’m using during the project:
• ScopeCraft — scopes of work and contractor bid comparison

• Notion for project planning and tracking
